It's been a while since we've seen a new Spike Lee joint... And so far there are extreme highs and lows when it comes to movie "reviews". With the trailer only just becoming available to the public a couple of hours ago, the faux film critics on the internet streets already seem to have lots to say on the film. Chicago is not happy about the film. There was plenty of controversy leading up to the film's production between Me. Lee and the mayor of Chicago, Rahm Emanuel. According to several students who attended the Morehouse screening, a large lot of participants weren't too happy about what they saw. So much so that they decided to walk out. Are you like whaat? Yeah, me too! Apparently the writers, Lee and Kevin Willmott, were attempting to create a satire type film based on a greek comedy called Lysistrata. Only, in this version, the women withhold the pleasure to end the pain and suffering stemming from the gang violence that is said to be prevalent in the neighborhoods of south side of Chicago. With a star studded cast including the likes of Teyonah Paris, Nick Cannon, Angela Basset, Samuel L. Jackson, Wesley Snipes, Dave Chapelle, Jennifer Hudson, LaLa Anthony, and more, it looks to me like the box office shouldn't be lacking come the movies debut. Rumors that Kanye West was supposed to star in the film have been circulating, but its looking like Mr. West just may not have the time for it... Roadside Attractions and Lionsgate have teamed up with Amazon Studions for the limited release of the film in early December. What is your take on the trailer? Are you going to see it?
