Jhene Aiko made her quiet re-entry into the music industry back in 2011 with her mixtape "Sailing Soul(s)" that included features from superstars like Drake, Miguel, and Kanye West. Regardless of the quality content, consumers didn't really take the artist back down the mainstream road until her later released EP titled "Sail Out" debuted in 2013. Her EP had a slightly different wave with features from Kendrick Lamar, Childish Gambino, Vince Staples, and Ab-Soul that wielded a greater response from the industry and made her a major contender in mainstream R&B again. For most of us Aiko fans, it was about time! Finally, her album "Souled Out" was set to come out Fall 2014. She gave us an inside look into her mind and her methods of peace with several noteworthy joints including "Pretty Bird" and "Blue Dream". (no features on this album either.. hmm...) Now, about a year after releasing her album, Jhene has debuted her visual for the hit song, "Lyin King", and its pretty intense. The visual portrays Jhene as a mysterious medicine woman traveling through time and encountering a troubled early civilization. She then shares her prophetic visions of what's to come in the future. I love Jhene's creative aesthetic, both musically and visually. The video was wonderfully directed by TOCK + Topshelf Junior. Check out the visual above and purchase Jhene Aiko's "Souled Out" on iTunes.
